Trustworthy Contractors are Hard to Find
By Tim Jackson | Jun 24, 2013
Where can you go to find an honest, quality contractor if you don’t have a referral from someone you trust? This is a question that most people will face sooner or later. We all have need of a service company or contractor at some point. Whether it be a Plumber, Heating & Air, Electrician, Roofer, Painter, or any one of dozens of other trades that we rely on to keep our homes & businesses in top working order, sooner or later we will all need to call on the expertise of these craftsmen. Trying to pick one out from the endless list of companies that clog the pages of the phone directories and internet can be maddening! How do you know if this company is insured, or that company has a license, or if any of them care about their customers and will give you a pleasant experience along with good, quality work?
The fact is, without some sort of reference, we are usually just shooting in the dark and hoping that we hit the right one! As an electrical service contractor, we often have situations where our customers have need of a service or product that we do not provide. In our 42 years in business, we have always tried to offer a solution to our customers needs, whether these needs are related to electrical work or not. This has led us to seek out quality contractors in which to recommend to our customers. As a business, this can be a very dicey practice. If one of my customers uses a company that I suggest to them, and that company does a poor job, it reflects negatively on me and could potentially ruin my relationship with my customer....not something I wish to do!
Thankfully for all of us, there is a solution that solves both issues. Belco Electric is proud to be a member of the Homecare Professional Contractors Alliance (HPCA).
This is an organization of dedicated contractors that hold each other accountable for their job performance and customer satisfaction. The group is made up of highly reputable contractors with excellent reputations that are not willing to damage those reputations by referring other companies that they “thought” were good. Not just any old company can become a member of this organization. Each company has to meet strict membership requirements. Some of the requirements are:
- Demonstrate a history of top quality service in their fieldAbility to service the entire North Metro Atlanta Area (most companies service the entire metro area)
-
Submit to and pass a stringent background check, including positive feedback from customers served over the past 6 months
-
Commit to upholding an Oath of Excellence promising exceptional customer service
Once a company becomes a member, there are no guarantees that they will remain a member. A peer board of review evaluates each company on an ongoing basis to make sure that as a member of this unique Alliance, they continue to meet quality workmanship standards and engage in supreme customer service. In addition, all member companies are held accountable by the other companies in the Alliance who are referring them. Again, the last thing I want to happen is to refer a company to one of my customers and have that customer endure a poor service experience at my recommendation.
If you find yourself in need of ANY service in your home or business, I urge you to take a look at the Homecare Professional Contractors Alliance. You can learn more about this unique organization by going to www.hpcalliance.com. In addition to learning about the HPCA, you can also see the list of member contractors, complete with introductions to each company, services offered, customer feedback, and contact information.
